At Akaokan, guests can relax in the spacious public hot-spring baths and visit the World Heritage Gassho-style houses. Japanese Yukata robes are provided for all guests and all rooms come with tatami (woven-straw) floors. JR Johana Train Station is a 30-minute drive away. Guests can choose to stay in air-conditioned rooms with Japanaese futon bedding or Western beds. A flat-screen TV, a fridge and an en suite bathroom are included in each. A souvenir shop is available for guests to purchase local gifts and drink vending machines are on-site. The front desk provides photocopying services. A traditional multi-course meal is served for dinner and a Japanese set-menu for breakfast. All meals are served at the dining room. Akaokan Ryokan is a 5-minute drive from Suganuma Historic Village and a 25-minute drive from Ainokura Historic Village. A free shuttle is available from the Ryokan to both villages.
