Minshuku Nakaya offers guests the unique experience of a stay in a 350 years old traditional Gassho-style house. The hotel is located Ainokura Village, a World Heritage Site with a traditional local community. Rooms at Nakaya Minshuku feature tatami (woven-mat) flooring, sliding paper walls and Japanese futon bedding. Bathroom facilities are shared. The Gassho Minshuku features an Irori hearth and a flat-screen TV in the dining room. A Japanese breakfast and dinner are served daily. Smoking is not allowed in the World Heritage park, and sightseeing is only allowed after the early morning and before dusk. Also private properties are off-limits, and trash must be taken home. Gassho Minshuku Nakaya is a 15-minute drive from the Gokayama Onsen hot spring area, and a 45-minute drive from the Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go. JR Shirohata Station is a 20-minute drive away.
