Set in an 18th-century farmhouse with views across the Shropshire countryside, Old Downton Lodge is just 15 minutes’ drive from Ludlow’s historic town centre and castle. With a beautiful flower-filled courtyard, this guest accommodation offers rooms with wooden beams and flagstone floors. A private modern bathroom with a selection of toiletries is included in each individually designed bedroom, which also has a flat-screen TV with a DVD player and a hairdryer. Some rooms at Old Downton have a four-poster bed. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Full English breakfasts and evening meals are served on weekends in the grand and elegantly furnished dining room, which features bare stone walls and a high ceiling. Open to both residents and locals, the restaurant offers a daily changing menu, inspired by the chef's visits to the local market and Ludlow Food Centre. Special dietary requirements can be catered to with prior request. Scenic walks can be enjoyed in the surrounding countryside. Free private parking is available and Croft Castle and its parklands are within 20 minutes’ drive of Old Downton Lodge.

Please note that dinner is served from Tuesdays to Saturdays only. Guests are advised to book tables in the restaurant at least 24 hours in advance, to avoid disappointment.
