This large country house is 8.5 miles north of Carlisle in Cumbria, less than 10 minutes’ drive from the Scottish border. It offers cosy rooms with free Wi-Fi, full English breakfast and a seasonal outdoor pool. Rooms at Briar Lea Guest House feature views of the property’s spacious gardens and all include a Freeview TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. Bathrooms are en suite or shared. A varied breakfast menu is freshly cooked and features seasonal, local produce where possible. Special dietary requirements can be catered for. Guests can relax in the gardens and on the patio or enjoy free use of the heated outdoor pool open in July and August. The Briar Lea has free private off-road parking and is within 10 minutes’ drive of Gretna Green and the A74 and M6 motorways. Penrith is 26 miles away and you can drive to both Keswick and Cockermouth in 50 minutes.
