The Seagate is a 17th-century hotel sitting on the quay in the Devon fishing village of Appledore. It offers bed and breakfast accommodation in individually furnished rooms, with the inn serving real ale and cider alongside an extensive food menu with local seafood specialities. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, hairdryers, tea and coffee facilities and cotton bedding, and most have sea views. Each room has a modern en suite bathroom with complementary toiletries. A full English breakfast is offered alongside filled omelettes, scrambled eggs and salmon, and grilled kippers. There is also fresh fruit, juices, yoghurt and cereals. This West Country inn has outdoor terraces with tables enjoying views across the estuary. Fresh, locally caught fish is a big part of the Seagate food menu, with sample dishes including baked mackerel with Moroccan spice and beer-battered haddock with chunky fries. Within around 10 minutes’ drive, you can visit the port of Bideford, and the beaches of Instow and Westward Ho!
