With a spectacular location in Cumbria and grounds that stretch down to the shores of Wastwater, the deepest lake in England, this hostel offers free parking on site. The half-timbered building is a National Trust property and dates back to 1829. YHA Wastwater’s wood-panelled restaurant has lake views and serves local ales. Guests can also enjoy a game of snooker in the games room, with its original brick walls. Scafell Pike is less than 4 miles from YHA Wastwater, and St Olaf’s church is also within easy reach. You can go climbing, walking and cycling in the surrounding area. Dormitory-style rooms are available, and each has a shared bathroom. Towels can be hired at reception.
