Near the shore of Lake Akkajaure, STF Ritsem is surrounded by the nature of the Stora Sjöfjället National Park. Guests have access to laundry facilities, a TV room and a communal kitchen. Bedrooms at STF Ritsem are simply decorated, some with views over the lake. Shared bathroom facilities are available, while all rooms include a sink in the bedroom. The hostel offers rental of skiing and mountaineering equipment, and on site guests can book a sauna or get fishing licenses. A supermarket is located in Porjus, 2 hours’ drive away, and Gällivare town is 180 km away. Cross-country skiing, hiking, cycling and snowmobile tours are all possible in the area, as well as summer boat trips on the lake. The border with Norway and the Northern Norwegian fjords is approximately 40 km away cross-country.
