In a 1930s building with typical Portuguese tiles, Mirandashouse is in the Alentejo town of Grândola. It offers a shady garden with seating areas, and traditionally decorated rooms with free Wi-Fi. Featuring handmade, wrought-iron beds, each room has Portuguese rugs and antique-style furniture. All are air conditioned and some have a four-poster bed. Bathrooms are shared. Regional cuisine, either barbecued or cooked in a wood oven, is available in the dining room or on the terrace. The bar offers Alentejo wines and Miranda’s special gin. Overlooking the garden, the lounge has a chandelier, fireplace and large flat-screen TV. Hiking, cycling and horseriding are available in the surrounding Serra de Grândola, a 5-minute drive away. Badoca Park, a zoo with African animals, is 30 km away. Several sandy beaches are within a 30-minute drive of Miranda’s House and Lisbon is around 1.5 hours by car. On-site parking is free.
