To the south-east of the famous Hardangervidda plateau, this hostel high in the mountains of Telemark has a restaurant and sauna. Fishing on the nearby Kalhovd fjord is popular, as well as hiking in the surrounding terrain. Kalhovd Turisthytte offers dormitory-style accommodation, where beds available in shared rooms with shared bathrooms. Guests can relax in the bar or on the terrace overlooking the fjord, and the hostel also has its own kiosk. Breakfast and an evening meal are served daily at Kalhovd Turisthytte, with menus inspired by traditional Norwegian cuisine. Gaustatoppen mountain can be reached by car in under 1.5 hours, while Rjukan is 57 km away from the property.
