This laid-back surfing lodge offers Spanish language lessons, free Wi-Fi and rustic accommodation with wonderful ocean views. Surfers of all levels can enjoy the year-round warm waters of Playa Hermosa Beach. Zopilote Surf Lodge offers simple rooms and thatched bungalows, each with a private bathroom. All include mosquito nets and air conditioning or a ceiling fan. At the heart of the lodge, the ranch-style restaurant offers homemade meals and a relaxed atmosphere. This is an ideal spot to read, watch films or enjoy sunsets from the terrace. Surfing lessons and equipment hire can be arranged at the Zopilote’s 24-hour reception. Staff can also organize rainforest treks, boat trips or airport transfers on request. Free bicycles are available at the lodge, and you can cycle to Malpais and the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve in around 20 minutes. Direct buses connect Malpais with Costa Rica’s capital, San José.
