The Amukela Game Lodge is located in the Balule Private Nature Reserve which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Guests can relax at the swimming pool or the surrounding shaded terrace. Its rustic, thatched-roof cottages overlook the nearby bush land and floodlit watering hole. Cottage facilities include air-conditioning, private bathroom and a mosquito net. Typical South African cuisine can be enjoyed in a traditional, open-sided room called a “boma”. A buffet breakfast is served daily. A variety of drinks are provided at the bar. Bird-watching and star gazing are also popular activities. The staff at Amukela can assist guests in arranging game drives into the Kruger Park. Hoedspruit is a 25 minutes’ drive away and the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve is within 72 km.

- From Johannesburg, you take the N12 towards Malahleni (Witbank). The N12 becomes the N4.
- Follow the N4 untill Belfast.
- At Belfast, take R540 towards Dulstroom and Lydenburg.
- In Lydenburg, follow the R36 leading to Ohrigstad.
- From Ohrigstad, take the R527 to Hoedspruit.
- In Hoedspruit, follow the road until you have reached a cross-road.
- Turn left here towards Phalaborwa on the R40.
- After 16 km, turn right when you see the sign to Balule – Olifants West Gate.
Route to Amukela:
-You are now at the entrance gate of the Balule Game Reserve. An fee of R60 per vehicle is payable at the gate.
- In the Balule Game Reserve, you turn left onto the Maroela Laan.
- Follow this road and then turn right into the Sable Road.
- After 1 km you will see the sign for Amukela on your right-hand side.
The total distance from the gate until our lodge is about 5.5 km.
