Set in a private reserve, surrounded by Blyde River and the Drakensberg Mountains, this lodge offers self-catering rooms with balconies. It features 2 outdoor pools, massage treatments and barbecue facilities. Blyde River Wilderness Lodge’s elegantly decorated rooms have a mosquito net, a seating area and a fully equipped kitchen. Each room has a private bathroom with a hairdryer. All rooms lead out onto the tranquil river settings, where crocodiles and hippos cruise by. The reserve is also home to giraffes, zebras and wildebeests. Guests can start their day with a rich breakfast buffet, before exploring the surrounding area. Tea garden lunches, patio dinners and packed lunches are also available on request. A variety of activities is offered in the surrounding area, including boat cruises on the Blyde Dam, quad biking and elephant rides.

From Johannesburg and Pretoria:
- Take the N12 from Johannesburg and the N4 from Pretoria, and continue past Witbank and Middelburg to Belfast.
- Turn onto the R540 to Dullstroom and Lydenburg.
- Take the R36 to Ohrigstad, proceed through the Strijdom Tunnel and onto the R527 in the direction of Hoedspruit.
- Travel on the R527 for roughly 22 km.
- Opposite the road stall ‘Appelblaar’ there is a sign for Richmond Farms, Kimba Lodge, and Blyde River Wilderness Lodge.
- Turn left here and the tar road will become a gravel road.
- Keep to the right where the road splits, continue through the boom gate and follow the road for approximately 6 km.
- The road then splits again – keep left, travel about 1 km going down the dip and halfway up the hill.
- On the right-hand side you will find the entrance to the lodge and a sign for Kimba Lodge and Blyde River Wilderness Lodge.
- Turn right here.
- The gate will either be manned or left unlocked.
- Follow the signs to the lodge and please be advised that there are wild animals so please drive slowly.
