Spread over 1000 acres of bush where African animals roam, Mansfield Game Reserve is by the Kowie River. The self-catering accommodation ranges from ox wagons to a house with private pool. With a deck featuring panoramic river views, the log cabin includes a wood-burning boiler. Overlooking the reserve, open-plan dormitories have a bathroom as part of the unit, while the 19th-century ox wagons share communal bathrooms. Braai barbecue areas are provided with each accommodation option, and the house has a kitchen, as well as an open-plan dining room and lounge with fireplace and wooden ceiling. The seasonal riverside Black Rock Restaurant within the grounds is also available for meals. Activities include game drives, river trips and canoeing, and children have access to a play area. Several hiking trails offer opportunities for animal and birdwatching. Set off the R67, 6 km from Port Alfred, Mansfield Reserve is around a 15-minute drive from Port Alfred Airport. On-site parking is free.
