A 5-minute drive from the spectacular Takachiho Gorge, Ryokan Shinsen offers rooms with a Japanese-style decor and free wired internet, some of which have open-air baths. A Japanese breakfast and a traditional multi-course meal with local seasonal dishes is presented at Tearoom Wabisuke. The dining area has open hearths and seating cushions on the tatami (woven mat) floor, and chairs are available upon request. Ryokan Shinsen is a 20-minute drive from Takachiho Jinja Shrine, and the sea of clouds at Kunimi-ga-Oka or 'Nirvana in Aso' can be visited a 15-minute drive away.Takachiho Bus Centre is a 10-minute walk away, while Kumamoto Airport is within a 90-minute drive.
