A 1-minute walk from the west exit of JR Kitakami Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen (bullet train) line, Nanbu Hotel has free Wi-Fi throughout, allows dogs for a fee and serves a simple Western breakfast. Each air-conditioned room at Hotel Nanbu includes a mini-fridge, a TV and an en suite bathroom. Most are Western-style, but a Japanese room with a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding is also available. Geto Onsen hot spring, open from mid-May through October, is just 500 metres away. Geto Kogen ski resort is a 1-hour drive away. The hotel has rental bicycles and free parking. The hotel’s hot public bath is open 24/7 and can be used without a reservation. There is a free-use massage chair on each floor. Breakfast is served at the dining area for JPY 315, and includes bread rolls, yoghurt, coffee and tomato juice. To stay at the hotel, dogs must be well-trained and must stay in a cage. A fee of JPY 3,500 per dog is charged, and if there are any damages the hotel will request compensation.
