At the foot of Mount Baldo and just outside San Valentino, family-run Hotel Al Sole del Baldo lies at an altitude of 1300 metres. Right in front of the ski lift, it offers Alpine-style rooms with a balcony and a restaurant. Fitted with wood floors and furniture Al Sole del Baldo’s rooms are complete with a flat-screen satellite TV and a bathroom with hairdryer and toiletries. Some have wood-beamed ceilings. A buffet breakfast featuring handmade bread, cold cuts and cakes together with scrambled, sunny-side up and boiled eggs can be enjoyed in the furnished garden. Pizzas from the wood oven can be sampled in the restaurant with a terrace and specialising in regional cuisine. Depending on season, fish or polenta recipes are prepared. Offering ski storage and equipment hire service, the property includes a game room for little children. Hiking and cycling tours on the Brentonico Plateau are organised by the owners, who also run a nearby horse riding school. A 1-hour drive will take you to Peschiera del Garda, on Lake Garda’s southeastern shore. The nearby ski lift provides links to the Ancore slope, part of the Brentonico ski area.
