L Appartamento Azzurro... or. the Blue Apartment. was the original living quarters for Il Poggiolo. a 800 year old farm-house nestled in the Medieval village of Codiponte in the Lunigiana. Il Poggiolo ... meaning balcony in Italian. is the name the locals gave to it because. the house & garden project out like a balcony from the part of the village built around the Castle of Codiponte above.The apartment was entirely re-built & modernized in 2010 and was designed to be a charming & comfortable open-space with areas for living. dining & basic cooking. a sleeping loft with 2 single beds above. a master bedroom with an antique double bed and a bathroom with shower. Off the bedroom is an ample terrace with views over Codiponte. the Aulella River valley and the olive groves on the hills beyond. The interior is furnished with an eclectic mix of period antiques. flea-market finds and the new from the furniture to the artwork. Out the entrance door and up a short flight of steps are grassy terraces ideal for reading or napping under the persimmon tree or for drinks in the late afternoon.
