Dating to 1858, this splendid Victorian mansion is set in 14 acres of grounds and boasts a carp pond. With free parking, Blackwood Hall is 20 minutes’ drive from historic York. Decorated in an elegant country house style, each room also has a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Many rooms overlook the lovely gardens and countryside, and all have free tea/coffee. Both traditional full English and continental breakfasts are served daily in Blackwood Hall’s charming dining room. Evening dining at local village pubs is only a few minutes’ drive away. Across the road from the Hall, Skipwith Common wetland nature reserve provides wildlife spotting, and many scenic walks are also on the doorstep. Selby is the nearest town, 10 minutes’ drive away.
