Situated in the quiet countryside of northern Iceland, this family-run guest house is 30 minutes’ drive from the village of Hvammstangi. It offers free use of the internet on a guest computer in the lobby. All of the simply decorated rooms at Brekkulækur Guesthouse have wooden furnishings. Guests can choose either private or shared bathroom facilities. Traditional Icelandic cuisine is served in Brekkulækur’s summertime restaurant. The guest house has a communal lounge and also arranges hiking and horse riding tours. Bird watching is another common area activity. The Icelandic Seal Centre and a public swimming pool are found in Hvammstangi. Central Akureyri is less than 3 hours’ drive away.
